Day Camp Programmes
Arts & Crafts
Campers take part in a variety of creative activities including hand plaques, murals, salt sundaes, picture frames, puppets, candles, piggy banks and much more.
Older campers also have opportunity of spending time at the Fine Arts Specialty where they enjoy creating self-portraits, inkblot creatures, foam prints, plastercine landscapes and blind contour drawings.
Jewelery & Beading
Bracelets, necklaces, bookmarks, vases and animals are just some of the creative items made in this area. Campers have the chance to choose their beads and allow their creativity to shine. They can be seen around the site wearing their unique creations.
Creative Movement
Campers have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of disciplines of creative movement. Under the guidance of our dance specialist, children will have the opportunity to perform in our talent shows.
Animals and Reptiles
A professional company brings in a variety of live animals and reptiles for children to touch, explore and learn from, including saving our environment and caring for its creatures.
Climbing Wall
Several times each week a portable climbing wall is brought to the camp site which is manned by trained professionals. Children are assisted into a harness and supported while they attempt to climb to the top using a variety of paths depending on their strength and endurance.Drama
Drama builds teamwork and encourages imagination and creativity. It explores what's possible when you build something from nothing.
Archery
A safe environment has been set aside for exciting archery programme.
Music
The sound of music is that much sweeter when it comes from a child. Younger campers will participate in a daily sing-a-long , kids style, while older campers will learn to sing more contemporary tunes.
Nature
The beautiful natural setting of the RHCC Day Camp is an ideal location for the multitude of programmes that our nature specialty offers. Animals & Bugs & Reptiles - the children will learn an appreciation and respect for wildlife as well as a concern for the environment and their well being. This program is closely supervised by professionals.
Cooking
No nuts or nut based products are used. This is a very popular activity at camp. Kids enjoy old favourites and experiment with new flavours and textures.
Games
The younger campers will love playing scoop ball or parachute games while the older campers can play T-ball, soccer or basketball. This programme stresses group interaction and participation.
Swimming
The RHCC Day Camp boasts two heated swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Regular campers will enjoy two daily swims while short day campers will enjoy one. Instruction is given daily by Red Cross certified staff. Sports campers and the Academies will also participate in a recreational swim every day.
Birthdays at Camp
All campers celebrating a birthday during their damp session are given the royal treatment. They will receive a treat provided by the camp to share with their cabin group along with a special tribute from our senior staff members.
Overnights
A special long weekend will be offered at Timberlane overnight camp in July and August.
